Twin Rock Beach, Catanduanes (2015)

Who would have thought that I will be able to go to Catanduanes? Haha! I was not even aware where Catanduanes was since I have only heard its name during my geography classes in high school and college.

This province is known as the "Land of the Howling Wind" because storms usually passes by its way. Thank God I did not encounter any storm while I was here and just a cloudy day with few rains on some parts of the day, but that's all. :)

Note: This trip happened last January 2015. Sadly, I had no time to explore the whole Island because I went here for a business trip. :( Anyway, I should be back to explore many many more places in this beautiful province.

HOW TO GET THERE:
The fastest way to get here is to take a direct flight via Cebu Pacific, this might be costly though so you better wait for more affordable flights during seat sales. :) My friends and I had a major road trip using a private car from Manila to Legazpi. So here's how to get there by land:

1. Travel all the way from Manila to PORT of TABACO (Legazpi, Albay). Make sure that you leave a day before you plan to travel via RORO. It takes 8 hours to get to Albay if you go by land. You will have to get at the port as early as 4am because the line gets really long. The first trip leaves at 6:30am.

Remember, you have two options to get to Catanduanes, it's either you take the shorter route to San Andres port or the one with a longer travel time to Virac port. Of course, you will have to check where you plan to go first so you can save more time. :) Ferry ride costs P260.00 for an a/c regular seat and a much cheaper rate if you don't want to be in the non a/c part of the ferry. If you have biyahilo, better take the a/c seats but it easily gets fully booked.

2. We took the shorter route which took us to San Andres Port. From there we had to hire a tricycle which costs P200 pesos. When you get there, there will be lots of porter and tricycle drivers who will lure you to pay much more if you don't know how to haggle. There are jeepneys (just ask around) which can take you in the sentro for only P25 pesos.

We went first to have our early lunch at this nice restaurant named Blossoms Restaurant before we went to Twin Rock Beach resort. As mentioned, each tricycle trip costs P200. So we hired another tricycle that took us to the resort after we ate.

DAY 1:
For our first day, we took a room good for 3-4 people with 1 queen size bed, 1 single bed and a extra foam bed for P1,800 + additional cost for the extra person who was with us, so that's a total for 5 persons. We were so lucky to get a decent room since we didn't bother to book ahead of time. I had the whole afternoon to explore the resort because my boyfriend and his colleagues went out to do their business. I had a wonderful time since it wasn't so sunny that day!! Wee no sunburns for me. :D

Twin Rock Beach Resort is the only resort that caters to travelers who would want to go to Twin Rock Beach. :) They offer various activities like ATV, Zipline and Kayaking. They used to have wall climbing but I have noticed that they no longer offer it because it doesn't look so sturdy now because of the rusting material. Anyhow, they have a pool but of course, the beach area is so much better!

DAY 2:
Mr. Sun greeted us on our second day! Bonding time with our lovies!! :) Hihi! We had breakfast and then took the time in the morning to swim. (P.S. Breakfast for two was included in the room rate.)

Breakfast Time! :)
Capturing few shots before taking a swim. Hehe!
After swimming, we went back to our room to take a bath and pack our things. :( Always the saddest part!

Due to time constraint and being a corporate slave as well, we had to catch the ferry back to Legazpi and then to Manila. We took the longer route back to Legazpi, I think that's 3 1/2 to 4 hours ride since Virac port is closer to where we are staying. We decided to take that RoRo because there are fewer people compared to the other one. Bye bye Catanduanes! Hope I can go back and explore more places!! :)
