Potipot Island, Candelaria Zambales (Summer 2014)

However cliche' it may sound, true enough, love is sweeter the second time around. Fairly my second time to this beach made me fall in love with its sand and waters once more. Trust me, this place will never disappoint. :) It may get a little crowded at one side of the beach when its summer but the whole island is spacious enough to accommodate more.

WHY POTIPOT ISLAND IS A MUST SEE THIS SUMMER:

1. It is only a 4-6 hour drive away from Manila (Private). I believe it usually take longer hours if you travel via public transportation. No worries though, because the road to Candelaria, Zambales offers a nice scenery! Best to travel early in the morning to avoid the traffic and the scorching heat of the sun! :)

2. Get to the Island proper within 10 minutes only - that's a quick boat ride! We drove all the way to Uacon Beach Resort (a mainland beach resort which is the closest jump-off point to the Island). From there, we found some locals offering us a boat ride to Potipot Island at P300/two-way good for 6-7 persons. I think that's really cheap since last year, coming from another beach resort which is Potipot Island Gateway Resort, we opted to get a speedboat for P300/person including the entrance fee.

3. Enjoy more of nature because this is a Virgin Island, meaning no electricity. But it does have a decent public bath, wash area, and common grilling area - meaning you just have to bring your tent, food and sunblock! They have reasonable fees to keep the Island at its best; DAYTRIP at P100/person and OVERNIGHT at P300/person. They also offer cottages - we got ours at P500.

4. And of course, say hello to its FINE GOLDEN WHITE SAND and PRISTINE BLUE WATERS :) This is what you actually travelled and paid for. Beach bum all you want!

WHAT TO BRING?!
1. Food and Water (Essentials) - since there is no available supply of food and water in the Island. Best if you can bring your own so you have less expenses but if you can't, you can buy food and water from the stores at the mainland.

2. Tent or Picnic Mat and Duyan- There are available cottages and free to use make-shift tables at Potipot. But of course, it may not be enough to accommodate all the beach goers. :) Don't forget to bring your duyan and enjoy the sun, the air and the view.

3. Sunblock (not unless you want to show-off that sun-kissed skin! Haha!) - A must-bring if you don't want to get burned, TRUST ME. The beauty of the beach is so mesmerizing, you might forget you are still not wearing your sunblock before you swim under the sun! ;) Bring your other toiletries!

4. Photo-capturing device - Whatever it is, as long as it can capture a decent beautiful picture. :) You better keep a memory of this Island!

Here's few of our photos from our beach trip:
Traveling with the person you love makes it more even better! :)
